Time Commitment/Responsibilities
President/Chair:
SIG Presidents time commitments vary throughout the year. For example, the time commitment will be much greater in the months leading up to NECC than in the late fall, which is usually a down-time for SIG activity. During the more hectic months, SIG Presidents are expected to be available via email or phone for planning questions, and should look to put in several hours a week of work.
SIG Presidents are responsible for:
Creating and submitting the SIG's annual report
Appointing a SIG Election Chair
Planning Professional Development
- Creating plan for Webinar/book discussion/other membership engagement at beginning of year
- Coordinating logistics between presenters and ISTE staff
- Supporting live events (webinars) or asynchronous discussion

Planning the SIG Forum and Annual Meeting
- Providing title and description
- Selecting menu
- Coordinating any speakers/presenters
- Submitting A/V requests

Submitting SIG-Recommended Sessions
Planning the Birds of a Feather Meeting
- Delegating other tasks as necessary
Vice Chair/Chair-Elect:
I grouped these positions together because they usually share similar types of tasks. Vice Chairs and Chair-Elects can expect to shadow Presidents during many of their activities, learning the responsibilities in order to step into the role whenever needed. Time commitment varies from several hours a month to several hours a week.

They also might help with the planning of the SIG's Forum and Annual Meeting, especially if the current President will be stepping down at NECC that year.

Vice Presidents/Chair-Elects in Division level SIGs can expect to assist the President with the planning and implementation of any Professional Development opportunities throughout the year. This can be in a coordinating or managing role, and the time commitment can be expected to be several hours per quarter (assuming 1 event per quarter).
Communications Officer:

Communications Officers are generally responsible for sending emails out on the listserve. Depending on the time of year, this can be as often as several times a week or as infrequent as once or twice a month. Time commitment varies, but Communications Officers can expect an hour per week on average.
